Donate Securities
A gift of securities such as stocks, bonds, flow-through shares, or mutual funds is a tax-smart way to support St. Andrew's Church. By donating the securities directly to St. Andrew’s, you eliminate all of the capital gains tax that would normally be payable if you were to sell the appreciated securities on the market and donate the proceeds from the sale to the church. So donating the shares directly provides you with a significant tax advantage.
The benefits of donating securities include
You receive a charitable tax receipt for the full market value of the securities.
You pay no capital gains tax on the donation of the securities.
Since you pay no capital gains tax, donating securities often allows you to make a more substantial gift to St. Andrew’s than you could afford by using cash.
