Nursery and Sunday School

Kids are a valued and cherished part of the St. Andrew's Church community!

St. Andrew's offers a clean, safe, fun-filled experience for the children of our congregation and for visitors to our worship services.

St. Andrew's is blessed with a number of dedicated and caring teachers in the nursery and Sunday School.  The teachers and helpers in our nursery and Sunday School are required to abide by the Presbyterian Church in Canada's guidelines for care as outlined in Leading with Care: A Policy Ensuring a Climate of Safety for Children, Youth and Vulnerable Adults.  More information about this policy can be found here.

On Sunday mornings, following a 'Children's Time' in the service, children are welcome to join in the nursery and Sunday School programmes.

The age categories for our children's ministries are as follows:

Class Ages Curriculum
Nursery ages 0 - 3 years old
Primary Class 4 - 6 years old  Walk With Me
Junior Class 7 - 9 years old Walk With Me
Senior Class 10 - 13 years old Seasons of the Spirit
Young Teens 13 and up Discussion-based studies and classes

In addition to the weekly classes, the children and youth of St. Andrew's are encouraged to participate in other dimensions of the community's life and work.  In the past, this has included working in the Out-of-the-Cold programme (for older youth); helping with reading and ushering during morning worship services; participating in outreach events to those in need through Evangel Hall, Presbyterian World Service and Development, and the "Samaritan's Purse" Christmas shoe-box programme; and actively participating in special events such as the annual Remembrance Day services.  At Christmas, the nursery and Sunday School classes also present a wonderful Christmas Pageant in the sanctuary during one of the December worship services.
