Our new winter season begins officially at 6 pm on Monday night, November 4th although you won't be surprised to learn that preparations and menu-planning are already underway. This year we will be welcoming back many volunteers as well as some new recruits. We began this program about twenty years ago and look forward to serving the downtown community in this program.
For anyone joining us for the first time, we hope you will come to love this program and our guests as much as the rest of us do. We are very grateful to you for giving us your time and we want you to find jobs you enjoy.
If you try something for a week or two and don't like it, please send an email to our volunteer co-ordinators at email@example.com and we will work with you to find you something else. For example, many of you have asked specifically to cook and you are welcome in the kitchen - but remember that we do most of the prep on Sunday afternoons from 1 to 6 pm and the final cooking on Monday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm in shifts. These hours, for many would-be cooks, are just not possible. And our kitchen is too small to let all would-be cooks help out when they can be there. But we may be able to offer opportunities to do meal prep at other times.
We also have a terrific breakfast program that runs year-round from 6:00 am till 9:00 am on Tuesday mornings - a time that might suit some of you better than the dinner hour or Sunday afternoon.
