Introduction to Life and Music

Music has been an integral part of the worship and ministry of St. Andrew’s Church throughout its long history. The Life & Music at St. Andrew’s Series seeks to continue that tradition by offering high-quality, affordably-priced opportunities for people to enjoy excellent music in the congregation’s historic location.

The program was inaugurated in October 2011 with a concert by Canadian pianist and Gryphon Trio member Jamie Parker.  More recent offerings have included a choral concert headlined by Canadian opera starts Russell Braun and Monica Whicher, a musical tribute to Oscar Peterson by legendary Canadian jazz pianist Oiver Jones, and a Mardi Gras Gospel Sing featuring roots music icon Ken Whiteley.

In addition to evening concerts, Life & Music offers a series of Friday Noontime Recitals in the fall (Oct. - Nov.) and in the spring (Mar. - May).  These fifty-minute recitals present a variety of young artists and veteran professional musicians and most often feature our Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano.  Admission is free.  (There will be an opportunity to make a voluntary donation.
