FACES OF FAITH
Community Profiles at St. Andrew's Church

Ralph Currie
1) What is your favourite hymn?
“All
People Who On Earth Do Dwell”. Second : "Holy, Holy,
Holy"
2) Do you have a favourite passage from the Bible?
While these
two psalms are associated with funerals, there is great hope in both the 121
Psalm and the 90th Psalm.
3) What is the
best book (biblical or non-biblical) that you have read in the last six months?
The best
book is “Three Cups of Tea” by Greg Mortenson & David Oliver Relin. It
is the story of an American who is building schools in Pakistan in the
rural areas.
4) What is your favourite style of music, and what is likely on your stereo
/ ipod / car radio right now?
My favourite style of music is
either Easy Listening or Jazz.
5) What is your
earliest memory of church?
My earliest
memory of church is singing the processional each Sunday morning (Holy, Holy,
Holy) at St Cuthbert Presbyterian Church in Hamilton.
6) What attracted you to become a part of the St. Andrew's community, and
what keeps you here?
I was attracted
to St Andrew’s by the preaching of both Dr. George Vais and Rev. Will
Ingram. While both men have a different style, the messages are very
thought provoking and relate to day to day experiences that we all face.
7) What is your greatest hope
for St. Andrew's?
My
greatest hope for St. Andrew’s is that we can
find a way to connect with all the new residents to the downtown core, those in
the office towers that surround the church and we find out reach ministry’s that
serve the community both here in Toronto and across the world. If we
don’t, we face the problem of many main line churches of dwindling membership
and one day closing the doors.
