Victoria Campbell
1) What is your favourite hymn?
My favourite hymn is based on the words of Francis of Assisi in Hymn 739 "Lord, make us servants of your peace".
2) Do you have a favourite passage from the Bible?
I like Micah Chapter 6 Verses 6 to 8 ... "and what is it that the Lord asks of you?"
3) What is the best book (biblical or non-biblical) that you have read in the last six months?
The best spiritual book I have read in the last month is Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth (Awakening to Your Life's Purpose)
4) What is your favourite style of music, and what is likely on your stereo / ipod / car radio right now?
I enjoy Jazz and frequently listen to 91.1 Jazz Radio
5) What is your earliest memory of church?
My earliest memory is listening to a biblical story told in the sanctuary at St. Andrew's in Saskatoon, Sask. at the children's time when we gathered at the chancel steps. Felt figures were used on a board to tell the Easter story.
6) What attracted you to become a part of the St. Andrew's community, and what keeps you here?
When I first came to St. Andrew's in 1972 Dr. Douglas Stewart was preaching and I found his sermons very meaningful to me. He was responsible for finding me my first teaching position. I met my former husband at St. Andrew's and our two children, Ruth and James were baptised there. I enjoyed serving as an elder and helping with the Sunday School.
What has kept me here is the love I feel from the church community and the love I have for them. I consider them my extended family. St. Andrew's has played a significant role in my life. The congregation of St. Andrew's has supported me through many of my life's challenges.
7) What is your greatest hope for St. Andrew's?
I have felt the congregation is growing in love and concern for one another. This is a beautiful thing to feel and to witness. May we continue reaching out to our neighbours.
One of my hopes is that we can create an atmosphere of serenity and peace in the sanctuary prior to the service, thereby creating an atmosphere of feeling God's presence more fully. It could be achieved by keeping the inside doors shut and signs on entering saying "Silence please".
