FACES OF FAITH

Community Profiles at St. Andrew's Church

Karen Baptista

1) What is your favourite hymn?

“Here I am, Lord.”  As I grow in faith and get older, I find myself giving to Jesus’ service.

2) Do you have a favourite passage from the Bible?

My favourite Bible passage is the creation story in Genesis.  I always thank God for what he made and sustains.

3) What is the best book (biblical or non-biblical) that you have read in the last six months?

“In Step With God” by Charles Stanley.  It makes me realize how I deal with God and how he deals with me.  I also learn how to get closer to God.

4) What is your favourite style of music, and what is likely on your stereo / ipod / car radio right now?

I like Country and Western music, music from theatrical musicals, and religious music.

5) What is your earliest memory of church?

I grew up in the United Church, where we were never allowed in the sanctuary.  I attended a good Church School and grew from attending CGIT and Explorers, and eventually taught both groups.

6) What attracted you to become a part of the St. Andrew's community, and what keeps you here?

I started working with the Out of the Cold program.  I was attracted by the way I was welcomed and incorporated into that ministry here.  I then began attending supper seminars and services.

7) What is your greatest hope for St. Andrew's?

I pray that this church will not forget those older folks who can’t attend and also those with cognitive impairment who are still children of God and loved by him and should be cared for by Christians in the church.
