1) Worship and Pastoral Care in July

Our Senior Minister, the Rev. Will Ingram, will be on vacation during the month of July, and will return to the pulpit on Sunday, August 1st.  The Rev. Dr. George Vais, our Associate Minister, will preach throughout July.

If you have a pastoral emergency during July, please contact Dr. Vais at his home.  His home telephone number will be available on our voicemail system and from Judy Neal in the church office during business hours.

2) Canada Day - church office closed

The office will be closed on Thursday, July 1st and Friday, July 2nd, and will re-open on Monday, July 5th.

3)  Coffee Hour - Sunday, July 4

Due to a special event at St. Andrew’s on Sunday, we will not be joining together for our usual time of refreshment and fellowship in the Great Hall following worship.  We will return to our usual coffee hour schedule next week.

4)  Church School - July and August

Children are welcome to attend St. Andrew's Church School classes during the summer weeks.  We will be offering a combined class for children between 3 - 12 years of age.  Children should proceed to the classroom after the Children's Time during the service.  Toddlers are welcome to play in the nursery during the entire service.  Our classes for youth will resume on Sunday, September 12th.

5)  Wednesday Morning Bible Study Group

The Wednesday morning Bible Study Group is reaching the end of its study of the Wisdom literature and will begin a new topic, the wonderful stories in the book of Genesis, intermingled with Paul's distinctive interpretation of Genesis, as found in the epistle to the Romans.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  For further information, please contact Eric or Pat Reynolds at ejreynolds@sympatico.ca

6) Sunday Morning Bible Study Group

Throughout July, Noel Ramsey will be leading a discussion promptly at 9:30 a.m. on "Insights into Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians."  Everyone is welcome!

The Sunday Bible Study group will not meet in August, and will resume their study of Isaiah on September 12th.

7)  July Sermons at St. Andrew's

During July, Dr. Vais will base his messages on Moses--His Birth, His Escape, His Call and His Excuses, as handed down to us in Exodus chapters 1-4.

The book of Exodus is dominated by the life and actions of Moses and arranged around two outstanding redemptive acts, the Exodus from Egypt and the establishment of the Covenant at Sinai.  In fact, Moses and these events are so fundamental to an understanding of God's plan for the redemption of humanity that it could be argued that much of the Bible is a dialogue which reacts to, explains, implements, elaborates, and completes the redemptive plan of God as it is revealed in this book.

8)  The Word on the Street

From time to time, we have been including weekly reflections from John Singh, who sells newspapers on the corner of King and University.  This week's reflection is:

It's true that God, in His great wisdom, may sometimes delay His answers to prayer.  It's also true that we must pray in harmony with the Scriptures and God's will.  But Jesus moved beyond those facts to urge us to persist in prayer.  He told us to ask, see, and knock until the answer comes.  So don't worry about wearying God.  He will never tire of your persistent prayer!

Don't think true prayer escapes God's ears,

        He hears your every plea;

    Though hope's deferred, believe--believe!

        The answer you will see.

Presbyterians Sharing:   ROMANIA

Our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing support Brian Johnston, as he teaches English and music at the Theological Seminary of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Cluj, Romania.   After a choir trip to visit small villages in Romania, Rad Andras-Laszlo, a first-year theological student and member of the choir Brian directs, wrote, “I am grateful and happy that I can be a part of this spirited group and I hope we will have many more opportunities to let our light shine. These excursions take the gift of music to people who haven’t heard praise and worship in four parts in a very long time. They are truly happy when we are there, and it is such a great feeling sharing something so wonderful with them.”  Let us pray for Brian, his students, and the choir as they share God’s light through music.
