1) Sunday Forum - May 30th - "Stitched Glass" with Kirk Dunn

"Stitched Glass" is a textile art installation exploring the commonalities and conflicts between the three Abrahamic faiths:  Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

Consisting of three hand-knitted panels in the style of stained glass, each approximately 6 ft wide by 9 ft high, the project uses iconic imagery to encourage dialogue around the successes and challenges of the three religions, in the hops of knitting them together for a brighter future.  Kirk Dunn will take us through the history of the project to date--from inception to design to the work in progress.

In addition to the presentation in the Board Room, a number of artists from our congregation will display their works in the Great Hall.  The art displays will be set up for viewing prior to worship, during the coffee hour and following the Forum.

Kirk Dunn's presentation at the Convention Centre this past winter was well received.  Be sure to attend this special event and invite others to join you.

A short youtube video about his display can be found at:

Jimmy Ba

Eryn Billings

Alexandra Chambers

Cody Chambers

3)  Road Closures

There are a number of walks this weekend.  Unlike marathons and other road races, walks may not involve full road closures.  Occasionally a single lane will be closed for a short duration.

Please go to http://wx.toronto.ca/inter/city/events.nsf/AllEventsCalendar?OpenView&Grid=3 for full information about this Sunday's street events.

4)  Summer Teacher / Volunteers Needed

The church school will break for the summer in mid to late June.  However, to allow parents with young children to attend the morning worship service, the nursery will continue to operate during the summer months.  If you would like to help out in the nursery any Sunday from mid-June until September 5th, please contact either Barbara Sargent (bigsam2003@rogers.com) or, in Barbara's absence, Betsy Nieuwland (betsy@lawrye.ca).  If you would like to teach a Church School class during the summer weeks, please contact Irene Faiz at irene.faiz@sympatico.ca.

5)  Presbyterians Sharing JUSTICE MINISTRIES

Through Presbyterians Sharing we support Presbyterian volunteers who contribute their time, energy and expertise to help Justice Ministries bring the gospel message of peace and justice to the world. Justice Ministries gratefully acknowledges volunteers involved in KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives. These volunteers represent The Presbyterian Church in Canada at ecumenical forums and workshops on economic justice, biotechnology, environmental stewardship, healing and reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Peoples, and poverty reduction.  Through Presbyterians Sharing, we support Justice Ministries and Presbyterians who “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with…God”.
