St. Andrew's was honoured to welcome the members of the St. Giles Cathedral Choir from Edinburgh, Scotland for a special concert last Monday night. It was a wonderful evening, and a special thanks is extended to John and Ruth Darling, Dan Bickle, Nancy Mathewson, Kristen Stout and Heather Dalzell for their great work in organizing and hosting this event.
1) "Wine, Cheeses and Jesus" Summer Gathering - Thursday July 16, 2009
The "Wine, Cheeses and Jesus" fellowship group will be meeting on Thursday July 16 at 7 pm in the second floor meeting room. They will be discussing the article "Take and Give: Two Words that Describe the Workings of Love" -- a copy can be found here.
Everyone is warmly invited to come and to join the conversation.
2) SAGA Summer Pool Party - Saturday July 25, 2009
The SAGA pool party will take place on Saturday July 25, 2009 at the home of Robert Sheng from 2:00 - 9:00 pm. Robert's home is located at 63 Neilson Ave in Scarborough. Please RSVP before July 23 at 416-269-7828.
The cost will be $10 to cover the cost of food and drinks -- or give what you
can.
3) Church Secretary Vacation Schedule
Our
administrative assistant, Judy Neal, will be on vacation from Monday, July 13th
to Friday, July 31st, and will return to the office after the August
3rd Civic Holiday. In her absence, please contact either Church
Manager Doug Pearson at extension 223, or Rev. Ingram at extension 228.
In Judy's absence, please make a special effort to have bulletin announcements in to the church office as early as possible. Thanks!
4) Fall Supper Seminars - "Understanding Islam" - Wednesday October 14, 21, and 28, 2009
Plans are well underway for our fall supper seminar series. We are very pleased to announce that Michael Taylor, who is a Muslim imam and a Chaplain at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), will present a series of three seminars about “Understanding Islam” on Wednesday, October 14th, 21st and 28th.
Registration information will be available soon -- but please set these dates aside.
5) The 2009 Annual Congregational Retreat - Saturday November 7, 2009
This year’s congregational retreat will be held at the Old Mill on Saturday, November 7th. Our leader will be the Rev. Dr. Clyde Ervine of Central Church in Hamilton, Ontario.
More information will soon be available -- but please keep this date free on your calendar and plan to join us for a great day of conversation, reflection and discernment.
