Please join us this Friday night for the first gathering of the St. Andrew's Book Club. Our first book will be Austin Clarke's More

We have just received confirmation that Austin Clarke will be able to be with us for the evening, and will offer a reading and a time for discussion.

Please make an effort to be here -- whether or not you have had a chance to finish the book (there won't be a test!!)

1) Funeral Service for Lloyd Tucker - Thursday January 8, 2009

Last Sunday morning, Lloyd Tucker's long struggle came to an end, and he passed from this life into the presence of God.  A funeral service will be held at the R. S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St., North York on Thursday, January 8th at 3 p.m.

2) St. Andrew's Book Club - Friday January 9, 2009

The first meeting of the St. Andrew's Book Club will take place on Friday, January 9 at 7 pm in the Great Hall.  Our first book will be Austin Clark's recently published novel More.  We are thrilled that Austin Clarke has graciously agreed to join us for this inaugural meeting.   More is set in downtown Toronto, and is an inspiring story of oppression, redemption and hope.  Please plan to join us for a wonderful time of discussion and reflection.

If you can send a quick note to the church office so that we can make sufficient preparations, it would be appreciated -- info@standrewstoronto.org

3) Epiphany Potluck Lunch - Sunday January 11, 2009

The Epiphany Pot Luck Lunch will be held after our morning worship service on Sunday January 11, 2009.  Please bring yourselves and one of your favourite dishes!

4) Catalyst Deadline - Sunday January 11, 2009

The first 2009 issue of the Catalyst will be distributed on February 1st.  Jane Martin and Kristen Stout, the new co-editors of the Catalyst, would like to remind you that the deadline for submission of articles is January 11, 2009.  Please send your articles and digital pictures to Kristen (kwmathewson@rogers.com) or Jane (janemartin@pagemartin.com), or to Judy Neal in the church office (info@standrewstoronto.org).

5) Nursery Caregivers Desperately Needed!

Our nursery is growing.  St. Andrew's now has between 4 and 7 beautiful babies and wonderful toddlers on any given Sunday and, following "Leading with Care" rules, requires 2 caregivers every week.  If you enjoy the company of babies and toddlers and would be interested in spending an hour or so (on a rotational basis) reading stories, playing games, etc, please contact Barbara Sargent at barbara.a.sargent@ca.ey.com or telephone Barbara at 905.420-3100.

Your help is appreciated!
